I was going to continue ranting about this dysfunctional president and his goof-ball administration. However, it has become clear that our entire government is completely asleep at the wheel. Obama is very bad news but if we can't get the republican party to do the right thing, Obama is the least of our worries--in the short term.
Obama is a complete and blundering fool, which is bad enough. But when we can't even get a meaningful proposal debated on the Senate floor, we're in deep, deep trouble.
The two proposals being floated by the establishment are bogus at best. They do next to nothing about the problems and pretty much just kick the can down the road like they've always done.
Cut, Cap, and Balance is the only viable and meaningful proposal on the table and the Democratic-controlled Senate won't touch it with a 10-ft pole.
Time to get serious here folks. The current government got us into this mess and they certainly aren't going to get us out of it. What can be done?
Can we recall the entire House, Senate, and President? Is there a provision for such a situation? Did the framers of the Constitution envision this situation? Is there any way out of this?
I don't have a clue. All I know is that none of the solutions that seem to be favored by the politicians at the moment will do anything to solve the problem. All they are doing is trying to pass the problem on to another congress or another President and keep the spending going.
We have to cut, cap, and balance now!

Been a while...
Well, I've had enough.
It has been very clear, since last March, that our current administration is hell bent on a socialist state. I'm not going to bore you with what you already know. The bottom line is that the next two years is going to be a crucial battle to get our country back from the brink.
I grew up with the false belief that the most difficult and perilous times of mankind had already passed, at least through my lifetime. Yes, a very selfish thought. The men and women that were born in the generation before mine made all the massive sacrifices and lived the hardest lives, so I used to think.
It has become apparent that, in spite of the great achievements the world and this country has made, the liberal left is bound and determined to reverse the progress and freedoms so many Americans and others fought and died for.
Barrack Obama's Hollywood-orchestrated advisors plan to get him "re-positioned" as a middle-right candidate for president in 2012. They've actually started that process and the recent announcement that Obama will appear on Fox's "The Factor" only illustrates my point. By the way, Obama completely ignored, and even condemned Fox News during his first 24-months in office.
The recent mid-term elections showed the world and the Obama administration that the country is resoundingly rejecting his policies. So, he's not stupid (or at least the people who got him where he is aren't) and he's reworking his marketing strategy for 2012. Like Bill Clinton's advisors did--successfully--in his second bid for the office, Obama has even hired the same consultants that helped Clinton recover from his failed leftist policies during his first two years.
The only reason this stuff happens is because of high-flying economic cycles (created mostly by conservative small government policies) that cause most of us hard-working citizens to ignore politics and allow these wanker socialists to convince the larger population that all is going well with the country.
Things are not okay! This administration, with the help of a far-left Congress and Senate, has spent (or budgeted) nearly Seven-Trillion dollars that we simply don't have. You G.W. Bush haters out there can ponder the fact that G.W. only authorized $780B just prior to leaving office. No! He did not authorize the two homeland security initiatives that the Left calls "the Iraq and Afghan wars." The Left-controlled Congress and Senate did!! Nearly unanimously!!
Oh my, is our country really this mis-informed? Really? Please tell me this is not so. Quit being a Sheeple!! This is very serious. We cannot continue down this path. We cannot keep spending, we cannot keep paying salaries and benefits of the very institutions and organizations that are burying this country.
Wake up! Look around, quit watching John Stewart, Bill Maher, and SNL. Yea, they're funny entertainment, but they are not based on truth or reality--come on!
The best advice I can give is to listen to NPR, Fox News (and opinion), and CNN. Yes, all are generally biased right or left, but they are the best sources we have today for objective (or at least somewhat balanced) information. Every other mainstream media is merely a propaganda conduit for the Left's agenda.
The 2012 elections could very well be the most important elections of our time. Liberalism is great when you can afford it. It is an absolute cancer when you can't. At this point in our history, it is very nearly a malignant tumor.
Time to turn this bus around...

Now What?
Okay, so the Democrats just moved our country another huge step towards the point of no return.
While most of us should recognize what is actually behind all this, many do not and never will. In fact, the bill is structured to enable the liberals to survive the November elections and the 2012 presidential election. Essentially, the real ugly stuff won't impact most of us until 2014.
Actually, the better elements of this madness are the only things that take affect very quickly. Yes, there are some good things about this entitlement. However, the long term effects of those "good things" are actually not good.
Anyway, I'll try and summarize this mess later. For now, the important thing for real Americans to do, is to not forget what just happened. While we may not be able to turn this mess around, or even make it better, we cannot let it stand. We have to be vigilant and get the people that pushed it out of office as quickly as possible.
It's really not about health care. The bill that just passed will grow the government to well over 60% of voters in each state. Once the electoral entitlement base gets that large, it will be virtually impossible to ever turn things around. Well over half of all people in any given state will be employed by a burgeoning and out of control government and will almost certainly not vote themselves out of an easy paycheck.
If the Democrats are able to move another piece of their socialist agenda forward, the numbers will be nearly 65%. If they are able to execute their complete agenda, the government will grow to well over 69% of our society. When that happens, obviously the government entitlement base will be well larger than the private sector. It will be a hopeless situation. And, essentially, America will have become a completely socialist country.
So, what do we do? Well, as is always the case, most Americans will forget about what just happened until it slams them upside the head. Unfortunately, that will happen, but not for several years. Yes, the passing of this bill will extend the current recession significantly. But most people won't quite get that and will likely never attribute this bill to future economic problems. So, it's quite likely (unless the current conservative party comes up with a plan--and sticks with it) we will be stuck with these whacked out lawmakers for quite sometime.
What really needs to happens at this juncture is a re-awakening of the human spirit that used to prevail in this country. It's still there, its just been sort of dormant for a long time due to the extended prosperity that most of us have enjoyed during our lifetimes. Yes, many of us took advantage of the environment and opportunity that our ancestors (and military) gave us, worked hard for what we have, and created one of the most prosperous countries the world has ever witnessed.
In my lifetime I've seen an amazing transformation of both the world and our country. Unfortunately, I've also recently witnessed our wonderful capitalist system go off a cliff. In large part, due to the corruption and utter incompetency of our current government. No, it's not the system! It's the people running it! And, worse than that, it's our fault!
Yes, our fault, you and me! We have been fat dumb and happy for way too long. We've virtually ignored what is going on and passively sat on our butts enjoying the good life while our government; state, local, and federal has virtually run our country into the ground.
Sadly, the good life is over, at least for a while. I'm not talking about the last 15-years of excess, waste, and fraud either. I'm talking about the life that we were living before we realized that we had been gamed by our governments and our fortune 500 corporations.
We have to find a way, a system, a philosophy, a set of principles, perhaps a new constitution. Whatever we do, we have to get things back on the right track. I know, sounds simple and, at the same time, hopeless.
It's neither. Yes, it's a massive undertaking, sure. This isn't an issue like we've faced before. It's not even something that most of us truly understand. It's a fight that will have no clear winners, no clear losers, and hopefully no blood. But it is more important for the future of this country than anything we've ever faced before.
We have to take back control of our governments and our capitalist system. And, we have to do it quickly, before the current powers-to-be completely flush it all down the toilet.
At the moment, I have no faith in either party currently running this country. It is time for a new party. Yes, a party. Not a Republican party, not a Democrat party, not a Tea party--a different party. A party of people who have a code. Who have a selfless mission to restore our country to the principles that guided it through the two world wars, the industrial revolution, the women's rights movement, the civil rights movement, and the ending of the cold war...after that we sort of got lost and have been ever since.
It's time to pay attention, it's time to stand up and speak out. It's time to truly change things. Yep, it's time for another revolution.

Had Enough Hope and Change?
Well, I know. I've been pretty bad at blogging.
My next blog goal was going to be about dis-spelling the myth that the so called "Bush's War" was his will alone. I will do that as soon as possible. The take home point on that that subject is all but two senators voted to take down Iraq's murdering leader. However, when election time came, suddenly it was Bush's idea and a bad one at that...think about it.
Anyway, now, I have to ask you: How's that "hope and change" going for ya?
Yea, I know. I supported this idiot! Well, I really preferred Huckabee, but I knew a religious type would never get elected. At the time (before the primaries), I didn't realize this guy was a whacked-out socialist. If you think what is happening to our country right now is good, you are sadly mistaken.
I'll let time be the judge as to whether these morons running our country have run us off a cliff. However, I have little doubt that, unless we reverse this health care "reform" as quickly as possible after it is "passed" by our dysfunctional congress, this country will forever be changed-- for the worse.
We certainly need to fix the health care industry but this "fix" is way wrong. In fact, it's really not about fixing health care, it's about growing socialism in this country and growing the government to a point that the private sector can never shrink it back to a manageable level.
If you love this country; understand its history, its reason for being, you know what I'm saying. If you think I'm nuts, then you're part of the problem, not the solution.
We've allowed a political party and liberal ideology to take control of our future, which is not very bright right now. They're on a mission but don't realize what they are really doing. Sort of like a pilot with bad instrumentation flying confidently into a mountain side.
Not much we can do about the health care "trojan horse" at this point. But we can work hard to get these people out of office as quickly as possible after the fact and find better political leaders for the future.
The main point here is that we can't go to sleep after this mess is passed into law. It was designed to be fairly benign to the public until after the mid-term elections and the 2012 presidential elections. Then it gets very ugly.
We have to get every single elected official that supported this mess out of office at the next possible opportunity. Then, we have to make sure that they lose the next presidential election. I don't think that will be too tough. But, if we go to sleep until the true effects of this mess hit the fan, it'll be too late. In fact, it may be too late now.
I'm not pushing Republicans here either, they have failed is miserably as well. We need a new party, a party that truly represents the people in this country that represent this country's historical values and principles, and somehow stays true to its vision. After all, that is what made this country great, not people that got something for nothing and then want to give it to people who want something for nothing.
I don't know about you, but I've had enough of this crap! It'll be hard but if we don't wake-up and start representing true Americans, this place won't even be called America.

Another Cyclocross Season?
Well, I decided to give cyclocross another go this year. Last year I started okay but a club ride crash ended the season early.
This year, my first race was the Central Coast Series #1 at Manzanita Park. While the results show I DNF'd, I actually finished 19th or 20th but was passed by the leader of the 35+ (Alan Coats)just as I entered the final corner of the last lap--I hate when that happens.
In any case, I haven't trained seriously for racing since 2005 so my expectations haven't been all that high. However, after three cyclocross starts and two mechanical DNF's, I'm at a crossroad: Do I pack it in and just do the usual off-season fun rides until the road season starts again? Or do I get serious and do some cyclocross specific training and keep plugging away?
Cyclocross has always been a bit of a "specialists" game and does require a fair amount of specific training to be even remotely competitive in the top categories. And, I must say, I just haven't been all that motivated on the bike these last few years and haven't really done any serious training. However, cyclocross is an event where you just can't hide the lack of training. You have to work at it or suffer the consequences.
So, I'm going to Vegas this weekend for a family function and will obviously not ride the bike much for a few days. We'll see how I feel when I get back. I did order some new carbon tubular wheels last week to help solve one of the DNF issues I've had. I'm not sure I can solve the motivational issues. Maybe the new wheels or the time off the bike will help, we'll see.
Okay, shut-up and ride!
